Once again our members are to be congratulated on the magnificent display of quality Standardbreds and sportsmanship at this year’s Royal Show. Wonderful weather made for a great atmosphere.
The Best Presented Class had eleven horses present for judging with the eventual winner being the perfectly presented pinto gelding Satinka Park Ashtaar and handler Jackie Searies. Well-deserved with all that white to wash and keep clean.
The mare class was contested by five horses. Adina Park Phedora (Kristie and Leonnie Morrone) was called forward to be awarded this year’s Champion Mare. Gone Forever (Gail Reed) was awarded Reserve Champion. The Geldings were split into two height sections with Satinka Park Ashtaar (Jackie Searies) winning the smaller height group while Adina Park Darcy Woods (Kristie Morrone) out moved his rivals in the larger height group. The two winners entered the ring to contest for Champion Gelding. The big black gelding Adina Park Darcy Woods (Kristie Morrone) was awarded Champion. Lights of Wembly (Catherine Macey) entered the ring as the second place getter to Adina Park Darcy Woods to contest for reserve champion but Satinka Park Ashtaar (Jackie Searies) held his own and were awarded Reserve Champion Gelding.
Stable mates Adina Park Darcy Woods and Adina Park Phedora once again entered the ring to compete against each other for the Supreme award. This year judge Gail Iskra decided to call forward the Gelding Adina Park Darcy Woods as the Supreme Standardbred Exhibit for 2011 and two consecutive years.
The ridden classes were split into two height sections this year. The gelding Satinka Park Ashtaar (Jackie Searies) was awarded first place against USA Legacy (Alex Markowski) for second and President’s Excuse (Rebecca Campbell) for third in the smaller height group. The mare Adina Park Phedora (Kristie Morrone) was awarded first place in the bigger height class with Lights of Wembly (Catherine Macey) being awarded second. The two first place getters then re-entered the ring for the champion workout. Both horses were given an individual workout for Champion in what would be a close call as the gelding again went around without putting a foot wrong. The mare showed her usual flair and displayed her lovely movement that had the judge award Adina Park Phedora (Kristie Morrone) their third consecutive Champion Ridden at the Royal. Satinka Park Ashtaar (Jackie Searies) was awarded Reserve Champion Ridden over the more seasoned Lights of Wembley (Catherine Macey) who also executed a great workout. All members should be very proud of the presentation of all horses again this year.
