Throughout the season we saw the best of our ridden combinations attend qualifiers to try and receive invitations to this prestigious annual event. Which is now in its 3rd year.

Our judges on the day all came from various backgrounds and had an array of knowledge amongst different disciplines. Each judge was to give their own scores and had an eye for something different and gave a clear insight into important factors when looking for their ultimate winner. Big thank you to Mieke Bigg (QLD), Marjorie Radford and Stephanie Smith for taking the time out of their days to judge for us.

Our combinations had 2 main sections where they were to be judged on a led, and pre-set ridden workout.
The competitors made the day run very smoothly and effortlessly with them all being ready to enter the ring when needed. Behind the scenes you wouldn’t have known the rush they had, to tack up and get ready for their ridden components.

All riders gave it their all and the ending scores made some very close calls and just showed the quality that we had on the day. As the scores were tallied up it was evident that there were only points difference between placings.
There was however one clear deciding choice and that was with our 2017 Off the Track Grand Final winner and Track to Hack Winner, Scoot On By owned and ridden by Ashlee Guagliardo. The judges commented that his “3 clear paces, soft clean changes and transition from race prospect to ridden horse showed him as a well-educated mount”.

This year saw our next top 2 winners to have had raced or trialled. The runner up winner worked her heart out and it was a disappointing result when a tack malfunction caused her horse to become a little unsettled. This however didn’t stop owner Kristie Morrone with the black mare Wash n Spin take the Track to Hack Runner Up award. The spotless and picture perfect duo were also unanimously the judges choice for the Smartest on Parade award.

There was only 1 spot left for a top placing and it went to Rosemount Lustre. This combination produced a lovely soft workout that was very pleasing to the eye. The mare had produced one of her best workouts and it was a fantastic result for owner and rider, Naomi Mead. We look forward to seeing this mare make 2018 her year.

All rugs and prizes wouldn’t be possible without our generous sponsors and we hope that you all had a wonderful day out. Big thank you to the following:
